White County's Adams throws shutout, HR short of the cycle at the plate

White County senior Spencer Adams pitched a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts in a 4-0 win against Hart County on Wednesday in Hartwell. At the plate, the highly-touted MLB draft prospect Adams was 4 for 4 with a single, double and triple. Also for White County (5-0), Will Flowers had a pair of doubles and finished 3 for 4 at the plate.

On Monday, White County faces Banks County at 5:55 p.m. in the Region 7-AAA opener in Cleveland.

NORTH HALL 5, LUMPKIN COUNTY 4: Senior Andrew Smith had a pair of hits and Lincoln Hewett drove in a pair of runs for the Trojans (2-3) for a win in eight innings on Wednesday at Jody Davis Field in Gainesville.

Josh Hammond pitched all eight innings for North Hall, allowing only one earned run.

On Monday, North Hall visits Fannin County at 5:30 p.m. in Blue Ridge.

GAINESVILLE 10, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 0: Michael Curry was the winning pitcher for the Red Elephants, allowing just one hit over six innings on Wednesday at Ivey-Watson Field. At the plate, Curry had a solo home run, three hits and drove in four runs. Sims Griffith finished 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBIs for the Red

Elephants, and Caleb Whitenton had a two-run home run. On Friday, Gainesville visits Mountain View at 7 p.m. in Lawrenceville.

JOHNSON 2, CLARKE CENTRAL 0: Chandler Cochran pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts on Wednesday in Athens. Lane Chancey had a pair of hits for the Knights (1-6), and Joel Munoz drove in both runs. On Friday, Johnson hosts Clarke Central at 5:55 p.m. in Oakwood.

JACKSON COUNTY 4, WEST HALL 1: Andrew Fogarty recorded 10 strikeouts over five innings on the mound for the Panthers on Wednesday in Oakwood. Patrick Overstreet had a solo home run for Jackson County, and Travis Vickers added two hits.

On Saturday, Jackson County faces Eastside in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. West Hall visits Dawson County at 5 p.m. Monday in Dawsonville.

DAWSON COUNTY 5, GILMER 2: Logan Burt pitched five innings with 12 strikeouts and allowed just two runs for the Tigers (5-0) on Wednesday in Ellijay. Levi Whitmire pitched two shutout innings for Dawson County to preserve the victory.

Zack Buchan and Brody Chester each drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers, and Burt added a pair of hits. Dawson County hosts West Hall at 5 p.m. Monday to open Region 7-AAA play in Dawsonville.

WEST HALL GIRLS 140, NORTH HALL 150: Senior Olivia Davis carded a 40 and Morgan Rivetts finished with a 48 for the Lady Spartans in an eight-hole match Wednesday at Royal Lakes in Flowery Branch. North Hall’s Haley Twiggs was low-medallist with a 38.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 181, WEST HALL 194: John Jacobs was low medallist for the Lions with a 40, followed by Gabe McConnell with a 41 on Wednesday.

Tennis
GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, CEDAR SHOALS 1: Katherine Wright and Haley Frankum both won singles matches 6-0, 6-0 on Wednesday. In doubles for the Lady Red Elephants (4-1), the pairings of Morgan Mercer/Georgia Summer and Suzanne Smith/Sally Callahan also won matches 6-0, 6-0. Gainesville faces Heritage today in Conyers.

JEFFERSON BOYS 5, SOCIAL CIRCLE 0 (Tuesday): Gage Thompson, Jordan Tyler and Jackson Howard cruised to singles victories on Tuesday in Social Circle. In doubles play, Jefferson won both matches in straight sets.

JEFFERSON GIRLS 5, SOCIAL CIRCLE 0 (Tuesday): Cailyn Diianni, Abi Muesse and Chiara Pate won in singles play for the Lady Dragons on Tuesday in Social Circle. Winning in doubles were Olivia Yates/Charlie Beatty and Rheagan Wessels/Kadi Perry.

LAKEVIEW BOYS 2, GEORGE WALTON ACADEMY 0 (Tuesday): Trystan Regnier scored both goals for the Lions (3-2, 1-0 Region 8-A) on Tuesday in Gainesville. Dalton Snyder recorded the shutout in the goal for Lakeview Academy, which visits White County at 7 p.m. on Friday in Cleveland.
