Bonaventure Quartet to jazz up the evening

POSTED: March 6, 2014 1:00 a.m.

What do you get when you combine the gypsy-jazz stylings of Django Reinhardt and the torchy-twangy mezzo delivery of Patsy Cline with a rowdy troupe of Romani-esque instrumentalists? The answer is the Bonaventure Quartet, an Atlanta-based confederation founded at the turn of the millennium by guitarist/composer Charles Williams.

The Bonaventure Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center as part of the Evenings of Intimate Jazz series.

Tickets are $30 per person and subject to 7 percent tax. For tickets, call 770.534.2787 or visit

The repertoire of the group is diverse with its performances including classic standards, Western swing, gypsy jazz and original compositions. Moviegoers might be familiar with the style featured in the Woody Allen film “Sweet and Lowdown,” or “Chocolat.”
