Jackson EMC Foundation awards $9,000 to agencies serving Hall County

The Jackson EMC Foundation Board of Directors awarded $73,440 in grants during its December meeting, including $9,500 to organizations serving area residents.

Grants were presented to:

* $5,000 to the Rotary Club of Gainesville for its Accessibility Ramp Program, to purchase materials and supplies to construct solid, safe accessibility ramps at the primary entrance to the homes of local citizens with disabilities or other mobility challenges.

* $4,500 to NOA’s Ark, a Dahlonega emergency shelter and comprehensive support program for battered women and children, to help fund a Trauma Counseling Service to reduce the risk of post-traumatic stress and other psychological problems.

The Jackson EMC Foundation has put more than $8.2 million back into communities since it was founded in 2005, funding 811 grants to organizations and 281 grants to individuals.
