Stomp around the church’s life center

Contra dance this weekend in Gainesville

Gainesville residents can dance their way to a good time at the Elephant Stomp on Saturday, March 1.

Jesse Edgerton will make the calls as part of the contra dance event. The dance will be 8-11 p.m. Saturday in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church at 751 Green St. NW. A free lesson will be at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for teens, $3 for non-dancers and children are free. If dancers arrive for the 7:30 p.m. lesson, they may enter for free.

Edgerton also will call the dances April 18 and 19 with the band ContraForce performing. The band is in high demand with its dynamic fusion of genres.

A free concert featuring ContraForce will be from noon to 2 p.m. April 19 on the square in Gainesville.
