High school scoreboard: Feb. 24

Hanna Grogan scored a game-high 24 points but it wasn’t enough as the Lakeview Academy Lady Lions fell to Mount Paran 52-49 in the first round of the Class A state basketball playoffs on Monday night in Kennesaw.

Que Morrison led Mount Paran with a team-best 21 points.

Lakeview Academy’s season came to a close with the loss, while Mount Paran, the No. 7 seed in Class A, will face second-seeded Holy Innocents’ in the Elite 8.

MORGAN COUNTY GIRLS 67, DAWSON COUNTY 55: Ashley Parker scored 21 points, but the 2013 state runner-up Lady Tigers saw their season come to a close in the second round of the Class AAA state playoffs.

Junior Sheyenee Seabolt finished with 13 points for Dawson County and Karlie Bearden scored 10 points and hauled in nine rebounds.

FLOWERY BRANCH 9, NORTH OCONEE 1: Dylan Gibeau threw five strong innings and recorded eight strikeouts as the Flowery Branch baseball team routed North Oconee on Monday night Bogart.

Stephen Gibeau hit a home run for the Falcons (2-1), who host North Hall on Wednesday in Flowery Branch. First pitch is slated for 5:55 p.m.
