Lanier Tech teams up with King Hawaiian for 5K race

Lanier Technical College has partnered with King’s Hawaiian to present the first 5K to benefit the Lanier Technical College Foundation.

The event will be Saturday at the Oakwood campus with the 1-mile fun run beginning at 9:30 a.m. The 5K race will begin at 10 a.m.

Parking for the race will be in the parking lot in front of the Lanier Technical College’s Advanced Manufacturing Facility (Building 500). Packet pickup and race day registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

All proceeds from this race will go toward the Lanier Technical College General Scholarship Foundation. Volunteers are still needed.

T-shirts and goodies will be guaranteed to those who register by Thursday. Plenty of refreshments will be available for all runners. Awards will be given to the overall male/female, masters male/female and two deep in age groups beginning with 10 and younger to 75 and older.

Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted to www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.runningintheusa.com and www.coolrunning.com.

The race is part of the 2014 Black Bag Race Series.

The Bagwell Family Foundation Fund allows students to continue their educational pursuit which leads to employment upon graduation, while allowing Lanier Tech to provide them job training and prepare them for the workforce to fill employers’ needs.
