POSTED: January 17, 2014 11:56 p.m.

Gainesville Police Chief Brian Kelly was sworn in Thursday during an annual business meeting in Macon as the next president of the Executive Board of the Georgia Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates.

Kelly has been a member of the board since 2010, when he was sworn in as second vice president. He became first vice president in 2012.

The chapter includes more than 800 law enforcement executives who have graduated from the FBI National Academy’s 10-week advanced Law Enforcement Management and Executive Training Course held four times a year at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. Kelly graduated from that course in 2004.

“There is no better way for me to give back to an organization that has given me so much, than to serve on its executive board to help establish policy, procedure and vision for the association to keep the association in the forefront of law enforcement and growing through the 21st century,” Kelly said in a news release.
