Your Views: Medical Center provided quality care along with true compassion

POSTED: December 21, 2013 1:00 a.m.

In a time where all we hear is how awful the health industry has become — and, just that, an industry — my family would like to acknowledge the nurses and staff at our very own Northeast Georgia Medical Center, especially the third floor cardiac unit.

While we were there recently with our sister, Shelia, we were surrounded with people who not only provided the utmost quality care for her, but became family for my sister and me as we sat with her until God took her home. These angels of mercy and grace truly grew to know and love my sister, due to her frequent visits over the last several years.

The level of knowledgable, professional care given was incredible and so appreciated, but the genuine compassion and concern for all of us went far and beyond a typical hospital setting. Even to the extent that several of them came to her memorial. How many of us have ever heard of that?

This message is to say “thank you” to those precious nurses and staff on the third floor of the cardiac unit, both day and night. You made a heartbreaking experience a little easier for my sister and me as we waited, knowing God’s plan was being fulfilled for her life.

I want all who read this to know that there are still angels of mercy alive and working at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and we praise God for each of them.

Terri G. Crumley, the family of Shelia K. Davis
