Christmas activities coming to a close

Final weekend for holiday events in Dahlonega

Horse-drawn carriage rides take tourists around the downtown square and its off streets in Dahlonega during the Christmas season. Visitors to the square also may see the businesses decked out in their holiday decor as well as a possible sighting of Santa Claus this weekend.

With less than a week before Christmas, many parades and holiday activities have come and gone. But the city of Dahlonega is still offering a handful of events the weekend before Christmas.

Horse-drawn carriage rides, historical tours of downtown Dahlonega, carolers and visits with Santa Claus will be available Friday through Sunday as weather permits.

A list of activities in downtown is as follows:

Friday, Dec. 20

* Daily horse-drawn carriage rides from Nov. 29 to Dec. 21, weather permitting. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children with a minimum of $15 per ride and can be purchased at the Carriage. Ask about a family rate. Cash only.

* Historical tours of downtown Dahlonega at 6 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Ride on the old-fashioned trolley.

Saturday, Dec. 21

* Daily horse-drawn carriage rides

* Santa visits downtown from noon to 5 p.m. on the Visitors Center Plaza

Historical tours of downtown Dahlonega at 6 and 7 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 22

* Santa visits downtown from 1-5 p.m. on the Visitors Center Plaza

* Historical tours of downtown Dahlonega at 6 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

Monday, Dec. 23

* Harold’s Angels will perform from 5-6 p.m. on the Visitors Center Plaza

* Historical tours of downtown Dahlonega at 6 and 7 p.m.
