2008 tax bills on their way to a home near you

POSTED: October 1, 2008 5:01 a.m.

It’s that time of year again.

Hall County Tax Commissioner Keith Echols mailed tax bills Friday, so be on the lookout for the bills to arrive over the next few days.

Echols said the bills are mailed out 60 days prior to the due date, Dec. 1.

"I wish we could get them out earlier but that’s the way it goes," Echols said.

After Dec. 1, bills will be considered late and a charge will be added.

"If they’re late paying their taxes, 1 percent interest per month is accrued on the unpaid balance," Echols said.

Deputy Tax Commissioner Lanny Kersh said there are a number of ways to pay taxes.

Cash, check, Visa and Mastercard are all accepted.

And starting for the first time in November, taxes can be paid online through the Hall County Web site, Kersh said.

There are three locations where taxes can be paid:

South Hall: 3640 Mundy Mill Road, Suite 140, Oakwood

North Hall: 5226 Dahlonega Highway, Clermont, Quillians Corner

Downtown: 300 Henry Ward Way, Room 204, Gainesville

Any questions can be addressed through the tax assessor’s office at 770-531-6960.
