Two more rabies cases in Hall

POSTED: September 30, 2008 5:00 a.m.

Hall County has now recorded its 35th and 36th cases of rabies for 2008.
According to Hall County Animal Control, a skunk came into contact with a dog on Sept. 19 near Whiporwill Road in East Hall. Then on Sept. 20, there was a similar encounter between a skunk and a dog near Montclair Circle in North Hall.

Remains from both of the skunks were sent to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur on Monday, and both tested positive for rabies.

Authorities continue to recommend that everyone should have their pets vaccinated against rabies. Anyone who observes a wild animal behaving strangely, a possible symptom of rabies, should call Animal Control at 770-531-6830.
