Songwriter digs into archives

Chuck Jones to perform at Crimson Moon

POSTED: November 28, 2013 1:00 a.m.

Nashville songwriter Chuck Jones, who has had a number of charting singles on country and pop radio, will perform his rich archive of tunes at 8 p.m. Friday night at The Crimson Moon Cafe in Dahlonega.

Jones’ songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as Patti Labelle, Ronnie Milsap, Shelby Lynne, Chris Ledoux, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Charlie Daniels, Deana Carter, Reba McEntire and Peter Cetera. He also has had more than 130 original song “cuts” and multiple Top Ten singles.

Opening for Jones will be North Carolina native Rob Tiger, a founding member of Irons in the Fire. Tiger has shared the stage with notable acts such as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Shawn Mullins, The Steel Drivers, BJ Thomas and The Green Cards. Tiger also won the cafe’s 2012 Open Mic competition. He is known throughout the region as a fine finger picker with roots in folk, bluegrass and country.

During their performances, Heather Wilkerson, a previous Crimson Moon employee, will paint a canvas creation inspired by a favorite song of the artist or the performance itself. Wilkerson followed her passion for both music and art through ‘painting live’ on stages and in orchestra pits across the South.

Following this music and artistic event, Montana Skies duo will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Montana Skies is made up of the husband-and-wife team of Jennifer Adams on electric and acoustic cello, and Jonathan Adams on classical, electric and acoustic guitars. In concert, these award-winning musicians delve into music from Pink Floyd and Rush to Vivaldi and House of the Rising Sun. They will also sing their own originals that have been featured everywhere from NPR to the Travel Channel.

Tickets to Friday’s show are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Saturday’s tickets cost $14 in advance and $16 the day of the show.
