Local golf: Two teams tie for first in Wednesday Dogfight Group

A pair of teams carded 12-under par scores to finish in first place in the Wednesday dogfight event at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Greg Lee, Joe Roberts and Yoshi tied the team of Don Bull, Len Kaper and Henry Komoto for first place.
Roger Stapp, Vince Jonte and Mike Simmons finished in third place.

Komoto was first individually, followed by Jonte in second and Lee in third.

REUNION: Sam Walters, Alan Chernack, Bob Patterson and Richard Byrd won the Reunion Senior Men’s Golf Association’s 3-2 event on Wednesday at Reunion Country Club.

Don Smith, Jack Ofsharick, John Santorelli and Andy Kain finished in second place. Tom Dibble, Jack Hughes, Rick Feniello and Tom White took third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Dibble (No. 8) and Bob Wischerth (No. 16).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

On Monday, Henry Komoto and Jerry Shell tied for first place. Jim Julian finished second.

Horace Smallwood and Charley Kilby tied for first on Wednesday, and Jerry Shell and Dwight Miller tied for second.

On Friday, Dennis Jones tied Dwight Miller for first place. Komoto, Steve Knowles and Smallwood all tied for third.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual flighted strokes competition on Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Carlyle Cox was first and Jack Costello tied Eddie Johnson for second. Paul Payne won the second flight, while Larry Cohan and Don Gage tied for second place.

In the third flight, Jim Hollobaugh came in first, Jim Van Dyke took second, and Jim Griffin was third.

Dave Gleason won the fourth flight, Frank Denson followed in second, and Ben Brooks and Joe Wyant tied for third.

Closest to the pin winners were Denson (No. 3), Herb Sckerl (No. 5), Griffin (No. 12) and Al Tyre (No. 17).
