One week left for early voting

As of Friday, some 269 people had voted early in the Gainesville city elections since the polls opened Oct. 14.

Early voting runs through next Friday. Election day is Nov. 5.

Early voting in Gainesville runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville.

Gainesville residents are choosing an elected mayor for the first time among four candidates: Charles Alvarez, Danny Dunagan, Debra Harkrider and Rose Johnson. There are uncontested posts on the ballot for city council and school board.

Flowery Branch residents can vote early from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at City Hall, 5517 Main St. City residents there are choosing among candidates for mayor between Shanon Lutz and Mike Miller; and two City Council seats, Post 5 between Chris Fetterman and Tara Richards, and Post 3 between Ed Edwards and Fred Richards.

In Clermont, early voting is available 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. each day for lunch, at Town Hall, 109 King St. Two at-large city council posts are on the ballot with Brett Adams, Lynn Adams, Bradley Armour, Kristi Crumpton and Mary Ellen Rogers competing.
