Bonnie Hunt reins in son Carson, 5, who's playing with his best friend Mason Feingold, 6, at Gainesville Parks and Recreation's 10th annual Mother Son Halloween Dance on Tuesday night at the Gainesville Civic Center. Carson's grandmother, Angie Hunt, of Young Harris, made his mummy costume from sheets and gauze sewn to a sweatsuit and stained with coffee, Bonnie Hunt said.

Gainesville Parks and Recreation celebrated the 10th annual Mother/Son Halloween Dance on Tuesday night at the Civic Center. A total of 179 mothers and sons signed up this year, said Parks and Recreation Division Manager Missy Bailey. “This has grown through the years,” Bailey said. “This year it grew a lot.” The festivities included music, food, and, of course, spooky costumes.
