Consultant updates Flowery Branch City Council on redevelopment plan

POSTED: October 18, 2013 12:31 a.m.

Redevelopment consultant Pond and Co. presented Flowery Branch City Council an update Thursday night on plans for the city’s future.

Consultants will host a final public meeting from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the historic train depot at the corner of Main Street and Railroad Avenue. They will present the final draft of a redevelopment plan with recommendations from the public and private sector.

“Five months have passed,” said Pond and Co.’s Joel Reed, “and we’re entering into the home stretch.

Next week's open house will include plans and specific goals.

“We started with your comprehensive plan,” said Reed, addressing Council. “We wanted to make sure we deliver people a plan that had community in mind.”

The meeting is open to the public; consultants will include potential future development site tours for those interested.
