High school scoreboard: Oct. 1

Kayla Street earned the win pitching for the Lady Red Elephants and went 2 for 4 with an RBI in Gainesville’s 13-5 win against Johnson in their final game of the regular season on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Kara England was 3 for 5 with two RBIs for the Lady Red Elephants (9-17), and Angel Goss finished 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

BUFORD 8, DAWSON COUNTY 0: Buford seniors powered the Lady Wolves on Tuesday in Buford.

Niki Cook went 4 for 4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base for Buford (24-1, 13-0 Region 7-AAA), Noah Sudderth finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs on a single, and Morgan Walters went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Remington Hasty was 1 for 4 with two RBIs, and Tessa Daniels finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Bria Bush earned the win pitching with nine strikeouts over five innings.

The Lady Wolves visit North Hall on Thursday in Gainesville.

EAST HALL 8, FANNIN COUNTY 7: Josie Coker led East Hall with two RBIs on two hits on Tuesday in Blue Ridge.

Emma House hit an RBI double for the Lady Vikings, and Makenzie Robinson had a two-run single.

Natalie Winters picked up the win from the circle.

East Hall plays host to Banks County on Thursday in Gainesville.

Volleyball

CHESTATEE SWEEPS PAIR: Grace Brown led Chestatee with 23 digs, 13 kills and four aces in wins against Johnson (26-24, 25-22) and East Hall (22-25, 25-19, 25-23) on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Melanie Smith added 15 kills, three blocks and two aces for the Lady War Eagles (7-1 Area 8-AAAA), and Gabby Castillo had 12 digs.

For Johnson, Kasey Gravitt led with eight digs, six assists and three kills in the loss to Chestatee and a win against East Hall (25-18, 14-25, 25-22). Cassie McDonald added nine kills, and Kelly Chance had 11 digs, eight kills, six assists and three aces.

Chestatee plays host to Gainesville and Lakeview Academy tonight in Gainesville. Johnson visits West Hall on Thursday in Oakwood.

LAKEVIEW WINS TWO: Katie White tallied 31 digs, 20 kills and four aces for the Lady Lions in wins against West Hall (25-17, 27-29, 25-18) and George Walton Academy (25-4, 14-25, 25-23) on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Delaney Jarrett had 32 service points, 15 assists and six aces for Lakeview Academy, Bailey Towles added 17 assists, nine aces and three kills, and Samantha Versteeg had 23 digs.

For West Hall (18-13, 3-4 Area 5-AAA), Kelsi Jones had 36 kills, 24 digs and 10 aces in the loss to Lakeview and a win against George Walton Academy (25-8, 22-25, 25-12). Alli Busbee had 47 assists, and Emily Grainger added 19 digs.

Lakeview visits Chestatee tonight in Gainesville, while West Hall plays host to Johnson and Walnut Grove on Thursday in Oakwood.

BUFORD TAKES PAIR: Maggie Roper led Buford with 19 kills and seven digs in wins against North Hall (25-14, 25-12) and Providence Christian (25-11, 25-8) on Thursday in Buford.

Gabby Curry finished the night with 13 kills and eight digs for the Lady Wolves (25-9), Morgan Mitchell added 18 assists, and Myra Sanchez had 16 assists.

North Hall’s Sydney Cleveland tallied 14 kills and seven digs for the Lady Trojans in a win against Providence Christian (25-13, 25-11) and the loss to Buford. Kristina Gregory added 30 assists, four aces and two kills, and Makenzie Bryant had 15 digs.

Buford visits Collins Hill on Thursday in Suwanee.
