Fire destroys East Hall home

POSTED: September 11, 2013 8:22 a.m.

An East Hall County house was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were called at 1:07 a.m. to the 5500 block of Candler Creek Road in Gillsville, where a 1,500-square-foot home was fully involved, with much of it already on the ground, Capt. Scott Cagle with Hall County Fire Services said.

He said there were no signs anyone was home at the time, and it was later determined the owner was out of town.
It took about 45 minutes to knock down the fire and three hours to extinguish all the hot spots. It was called in by a coyote hunter and passer-by.

The cause of the fire still has not been determined.

A cause also still has not been determined for a Saturday fire in North Hall that destroyed a 15,000-square-foot home.

The house in the 6200 block of Grant Ford Road was bank-owned and had signs of previous vandalism.

Cagle said at the time the incident was suspicious given the time, 3 a.m., and circumstances. Fire investigators are continuing to work on the case.
