Mike Kelley wins mayoral race in city of Baldwin

POSTED: September 20, 2008 5:00 a.m.

Mike Kelley captured 60 percent of the vote in a four-man special election for mayor of Baldwin Tuesday.

In complete, but unofficial results, Kelley received 122 votes, Jerry Neace was second with 57. Former Mayor Mike Reed had 14 votes and Thomas Loudermilk had 11 votes.

One hundred eighty-four of the city’s 800 voters went to the polls Tuesday, while 20 voted during the week prior to the election.

The special election was called after Reed resigned to run unsuccessfully for a state house seat. Kelley will take office after the election results are certified.
