Reach for the stars Saturday night

The first Stars over Elachee for the fall season will be from 8-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Elachee Nature Science Center in Gainesville.

Visitors will learn how a telescope works, how to set one up and use one of eight 6-inch Dobsonian telescopes to view the moon, planets, stars and constellations.

Visitors may see several shooting stars since it will be during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower.

Reservations are required. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 kids younger than 12 and free for Elachee members.

The activity is recommended for ages 8 and older.
