A wreck on Thompson Bridge Road near Murrayville on Tuesday seriously injured one person.

The Georgia State Patrol said Van T. Nguyen, 43, of Gainesville was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment. Two children who were in the car were treated for minor injuries at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Nguyen’s 2001 Toyota Camry crossed the center line south of Seminole Drive near Hopewell Church Road at about 1:20 p.m. while traveling south and hit a dump truck, GSP said. The dump truck then overturned on the east shoulder of the road.

The Jaws of Life had to be used to remove Nguyen from the car, according to GSP.

GSP said the driver of the dump truck was not transported for treatment.

The wreck closed Thompson Bridge Road in that area for a couple of hours.
