Fireworks safety

  • Know your fireworks. Read the caution label before igniting.
  • Use fireworks outdoors only.
  • All fireworks should be lit at least 10-20 feet from a structure or dry vegetation.
  • Obey local laws. If fireworks are not legal where you live, do not use them.
  • Always have water handy (a hose or bucket) or a fire extinguisher.
  • Shoot the fireworks on sturdy level ground (asphalt or concrete is best).
  • Only use fireworks as intended. Don’t try to alter them or combine them.
  • Do not ever use homemade fireworks made of illegal explosives. Report illegal explosives to the fire or police department ...
