Motorcyclist injured in Dawsonville Highway wreck

POSTED: June 25, 2013 6:44 p.m.

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a wreck Tuesday in northwest Hall County.

James Douglas Wilson, 63, of Gainesville was transported to an Atlanta hospital by air ambulance, according to Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle.

Wilson was westbound on Ga. 53/Dawsonville Highway when an eastbound 2003 GMC Envoy attempted a U-turn, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said.  The Envoy entered the travel lane and went into the path of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle struck the Envoy in the right rear quarterpanel.

The accident happened about 5:50 p.m. at Dawsonville Highway and Sardis Road.

The driver of the Envoy, Terence Le, age 58, from Gainesville, was charged with improper U-turn, Wright said.  Le was not injured.
