Police seeking woman in use of stolen credit cards

POSTED: June 12, 2013 12:41 a.m.

Gainesville police are looking for a woman who is believed to have used stolen credit cards at Publix on Thompson Bridge Road.

The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. on June 5, police said.

“The individual attempted to purchase a number of gift cards,” said police spokesman Cpl. Kevin Holbrook. “Video shows the individual had a number of what we believe to be stolen credit cards.”

Holbrook said after a purchase attempt with one card failed to go through, the individual would use another card, and that helped raise suspicions that the cards were stolen.

He said the woman was “possibly part of a group that may be victimizing individuals.”

Holbrook said it takes time to obtain video surveillance and that fraudulent transactions often are not immediately recognized.

Anyone who can identify the individual is asked to contact Investigator Scott Davenport at 770-535-3036 or the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-534-5254.
