Victim airlifted with injuries after 1-vehicle wreck

POSTED: June 6, 2013 7:27 p.m.

One person was injured Thursday and airlifted to an Atlanta hospital after a one-vehicle accident on Cleveland Highway.

Emergency crews responded to the accident around 6 p.m. One patient suffered severe injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

The female victim has not been identified. Details on her injuries or condition were not available.

Her northbound Volkswagen Beetle ran off the road just south of Tops Bait Shop, witnesses said.

“I saw the car in the air,” said Cleveland resident Joan Kinney, who was driving home behind the victim. “I pulled in (to Tops) because I knew someone was going to need some help.”

Kinney said the woman was lying on the ground outside the car when she walked back to the wreck.
