Hall County Fire Services is still working to determine the cause of a fire that did between $600,000 and $700,000 in damage to a house in Flowery Branch.

The early morning fire Friday destroyed the 6,000-square-foot home in the Royal Lakes subdivision. Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said when firefighters responded just before 5 a.m., the house was already heavily consumed in flames.

Neighbors said they were awakened early that morning to see the back half of the house was in flames.

It took about an hour to contain the fire, using six fire engines and a ladder truck, Kimbrell said.

Kimbrell said the homeowners were not in town at the time, but returned home later that day after being notified.

There was no damage to the surrounding homes.
