Boil water advisories still in effect for some

Schools not affected today by advisory

POSTED: May 20, 2013 12:13 p.m.

A boil water advisory is in effect for those served by Flowery Branch along with 18 homes at the end of Trudy Drive served by Gainesville.

The advisory remains in effect until 9 tonight for Flowery Branch. For those on Trudy Drive, which is off Lights Ferry Road in Flowery Branch, water samples will be examined for 24 hours and Gainesville Public Utilities hopes to issue an all clear by Tuesday morning.

Gordon Higgins, spokesman for Hall County Schools, said the advisory was lifted for schools Sunday night.

The advisory is due to low water pressure in Flowery Branch, a news release from the city states. On Trudy Drive, a water line broke and the road washed out early Sunday morning, according to a news release from Gainesville. Water was restored that night and the line was flushed several times after making the repair

For those under the advisory, bring water to a boil for three minutes, which will kill bacteria and other organisms, and then let it cool. This should be done for any water used for drinking, ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation.
