Local golf: James, 3 others win Wednesday Dogfight outing at Chicopee Woods

Luke James, Roger Stapp, Henry Komoto and Yoshi finished at 32-under par to take first place in the Wednesday Dogfight event last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Jim Arendt, Tommy Calhoun, Dan Arthurs and Jim Julian finished in second place at 22-under par, and Greg Lee, Don Schrum, Cleve Sexton and Scott Thompson took third place, finishing at 17-under.

Stapp carded a 60 to finish first individually, followed by Lee in second and Calhoun and James in a tie for third.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual flighted strokes competition last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Gene Weschler took first, Doug Glidden finished in second place, and Larry Cohan was third.
Bob Pyne and Bob Henderson tied for first place in the second flight, and Clay Bartlett and Karl Goellner tied for third place.

In the third flight, Gary Palmer won, Don Sorrell was second, and Rick Reed and Bill Holleman tied for third.

Joe Cronmiller and Johnny Little finished in a tie for first place in the fourth flight, and J.B. Johnston came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were Glidden (No. 3), Bob Layne (No. 5), Pyne (No. 12) and Holleman (No. 17).

DPG: Dave Jetter won the Dedicated Players Group’s Monday and Wednesday matches last week at Chicopee Woods.

On Monday, Dennis Jones and Henry Komoto tied for second behind Jetter, and Horace Smallwood came in second on Wednesday.

Denis Jordan finished in first place on Friday, Komoto took second place and Dwight Miller was third.

CLGA: The team of Ann Hollobaugh, Alice Paris, Jeanne Tompkins and Kirsten Coleman won the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association’s best ball team event last Thursday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Martha Shell, Susan Prather and Nancy Negley tied Ann White, Annie McMullan and Jackie Somerville for second place.

Closest to the pin winners were McMullan (No. 3) and Shell (No. 17).
