Savannah Schneider | West Hall High School

Schneider looks to find the right mix

POSTED: May 12, 2013 12:01 a.m.

Savannah Schneider, a senior at West Hall High School, has already taken a class to start college life at Georgia Tech.

Now she’s ready to make the transition from dual enrollment to full-time college student.

Schneider received the STAR Student recognition for Hall County Schools for the 2012-2013 year.

She plans to use her smarts to study chemistry.

“I had a really great chemistry teacher in high school, and I also fell in love with the subject,” she said. “I’ve taken a Tech class before, so I don’t expect a big transition in the academics, but a transition in the lifestyle — yes.”

Schneider took calculus through a distance learning program with Tech to get some college credit before she became a full-time college student.

Schneider will be a part of Tech’s Bio-molecular, Engineering, Science and Technology program starting this fall.

She also said she had no previous family history tied to Tech, so the decision to choose Tech over other schools was a long process.

“My family has been really supportive of me choosing Tech,” she said. “We looked at a lot of different colleges before choosing Tech.”

Before she dives into her studies, though, she’ll be taking a cruise with some of her friends.
