Cassidy Webber | Habersham Central High School

Webber hopes to analyze the minds of criminals

If there’s a criminal case to be solved, Cassidy Webber hopes to be the brains behind it.

As a high school senior at Habersham Central High School, Webber is preparing to attend the University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus. She has been accepted into the honors program there and plans to pursue a degree in forensic psychology.

Webber’s primary goal is to be an agent with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The unit uses the psychological skill of its personnel to analyze the minds of criminals.

Webber said she became interested in the field when she realized she could combine all the excitement of her favorite television crime dramas with psychology.

“I’ve been interested in psychology for a very long time, and I didn’t know that you could kind of incorporate the two,” Webber said. “It’s like a big puzzle, and you have to put it all together because you have to paint the picture of the suspect for the police department. (That’s) because what they give to the public is what the criminal profiler has figured out.”

Webber’s family is proud of what she already has accomplished.

“She is a very hard worker and her entire family is anxious to see her contributions to the community after she graduates,” said Lexie Clutter, Webber’s mother. “It is a sad and difficult thing to let her go, but we know that she is ready to tackle whatever comes her way.”

Webber said what she is most looking forward to as she transitions from high school to college is finding out what the next chapter in her life will bring. She thinks of graduation not just as a way to be done with high school, but the next step in finding out who she is, she said.

“I’m ready to see what the world has in store for me,” Webber said.
