Citizens Fire Academy signup set

POSTED: September 4, 2008 5:00 a.m.

Hall County Fire Services is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Fire Academy.

This 10-week class is designed to provide Hall County residents with information concerning the fire department, the many roles of a firefighter, and the variety of services that are provided by Hall County Fire Services.

Participants will be given the opportunity to wear the protective gear of a firefighter and to get up close and personal with a real fire. Participants will learn about the role of training, code inspections, and special team operations. They also will meet the individuals who serve and protect Hall County, and who respond to emergencies on a daily basis.

Classes will meet from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Hall County Fire Services Training Academy, 2801 Allen Creek Road. Classes begin Sept. 16 and continue through Nov. 18.

Participants need to be able to commit to the 10-week program. Individuals participating in the program will not be certified as firefighters, nor will any type of educational credits be provided.

Requirements for attendance include: Must be 18 years of age; complete a registration form; and be in good physical condition.

Class size is limited and applicants will be notified of their acceptance into class. Deadline for registering is Sept. 9.

Application forms are available at www.hallcounty.org or can be mailed upon request. To register, please complete the application form and return it to Hall County Fire Services by fax to 770-531-6845, or by e-mail to croberts@hallcounty.org.

For more information contact: Capt. Scott Cagle at scagle@hallcounty.org, Lt. Beverley Walker at bwalker@hallcounty.org or Hall County Fire Services at 770-531-6838.
