Local golf: Reunion's Sumemrville connects on hole in one

Reunion Senior Men’s Golf Association member Jon Summerville made a hole-in-one on the No. 3 Pawley’s Plantation course on Pawley’s Island, S.C. last week on the group’s annual golf trip.

The ace was Summerville’s first hole-in-one in his career.

CLGA: The team of Ann Hollobaugh, Alice Paris and Nancy Negley finished in first place at the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association’s Lauderdale event on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Sue Cronmiller, Carolyn Palmer and Kirsten Coleman took second place, and Martha Shell, Beulah Land and Jackie Somerville took third.

Closest to the pin winners were Cronmiller (No. 3) and Land (No. 17).

DOGFIGHT: Allan Kellogg, Phil Rothermel, Terry Clegg and Keith Fitzgerald finished 21-under par as a team to win the Wednesday Dogfight event last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

The teams of Greg Lee, Geoff Archibald, Tommy Calhoun and Tom Bolton and Dan Arthurs, Jim Julian and Terry McFarland tied for second place.

Individually, Eric Awtry carded a 65 to lead the field and Bolton was second with a 66.

CMGA: The team of Bob Pyne, Karl Goellner, Ben Brooks and Bruce Doll took first place in the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s two-best-ball, aggregated-net-strokes game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Eddie Johnson, Butch Teston, Dave Gleason and J.B. Johnston finished in second place, and Richard McClure, Jim Griffin, Nick Grillo and Wayne Nelson came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were McClure (No. 3), Bill Oliver (No. 5), and Pyne (No. 12 and No. 17).

DPG: Charley Kilby won the Dedicated Players Group’s Monday match last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

On Wednesday, Horace Smallwood took first place, Jerry Shell was second, and Dwight Miller came in third.
Henry Komoto and Shell tied for first place on Friday.
