Local golf: Schrum aces No. 5 at Mill

Don Schrum made a hole-in-one on the No. 5 at the Mill Course at the Wednesday dogfight event at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

The team of Greg Lee, Gayle Gibson and Terry McFarland won the event.

Roger Stapp, Cleve Sexton and Keith Fitzgerald finished in second place, and Jerry Horton, Schrum and Tom Frier came in third.

Individually, McFarland and Sexton tied for first place with scores of 65. Stapp took third with a 66.

CMGA: Richard McClure, Bill Oliver, Nick Grillo and Roger Miller finished in first place at the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s two-best-ball, aggregated-net-points game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Three teams — Rick Reed, Larry Cohan and Dave Long; Doug Van, Jim Griffin Gary Palmer and Ken Uyl; and Jack Costello,

A.J. Kiker, Jim Carroll and Bob Layne — all tied for third.

Closest to the pin winners were Kiker (No. 3), Bob Henderson (No. 5), Jere Cochran (No. 12) and Costello (No. 17).

LUNA’S TUESDAY: Blake Nix, Canon Ramey, Randy Gordy and Bud Black won the Luna’s Tuesday golf group’s event at The Orchard in Clarkesville.

Second place went to the team of Jimmy Harritos, Johnny Nix, Herb Sckerl and Larry Miller, while third place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Ken Chahoy, Tommy Lowery and Jim Cornett.

Closest to the pin winners were Joe Roberts (No. 2), Chahoy (No. 7 and No. 11) and Harritos (No. 13).

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low-gross, low-net event last Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Mona White won low gross and Ann Hollobaugh was second, while Martha Shell won low net and Barbara Smith came in second.

In the second flight, Martha Nesbitt won low gross and Sue Cronmiller was second. Carolyn Palmer took low net, and Norma Remmlinger was second.

Alice Paris won low gross in the third flight, and Jackie Somerville took second, while Kirsten Coleman was first in low net and Riki Von Stroud came in second.

Closest to the pin winners were Paris (No. 3) and Cronmiller (No. 17).

DPG: Steve Knowles won Monday’s Dedicated Players group match last week at Chicopee Woods.
Denis Jordan was second on Monday, and Bob Kidd came in third.

Knowles also took first place on Wednesday, and Jim Julian was second. Kidd won on Friday, and Norm Phillips, Horace Smallwood and Charley Kilby tied for second.
