High school scoreboard: April 24

White County carded a team score of 313 to finish in first place at the Region 7-AAA golf tournament on Wednesday in Cleveland.

Buford took second with a score of 323, and North Hall came in third with a 328.

Clay Hoffman led the Trojans with a 74 and tied for low medallist, which he lost in a playoff with White County’s Eli Crumley.

Hunter Young carded an 80 for North Hall.

Both Buford and North Hall will head to the Class AAA state sectional on May 6 at Cateechee Golf Course in Hartwell. White County next competes in the Class AAA state championship on May 20 at Reunion Country Club in Hoschton.

Baseball

NORTH HALL 10, BANKS COUNTY 0: Adam Kelly led North Hall with nine strikeouts over five innings and an RBI in his 2-for-3 performance at the plate on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Lincoln Hewett went 1 for 3 with three RBIs for the Trojans (23-2, 19-1 Region 7-AAA), Colton Duttweiler was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs, and Griffin Olson recorded a pair of RBIs in his 1-for-2 night. Zach Mize was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Stephen Murray was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Andrew Smith recorded two hits for North Hall.

The Trojans visit East Hall on Friday in Gainesville.

JEFFERSON 7, COMMERCE 0: Micah Carpenter earned the complete-game win pitching for the Dragons (23-2, 14-0), striking out 10 on Wednesday in Jefferson.

Drew Carson hit a two-run home run for Jefferson, and Alex Gaba had a two-run double.

Jefferson plays host to a to-be-determined opponent in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs on May 3 in Jefferson.

CHESTATEE 9, JOHNSON 3 (Tuesday): Caleb Jameson struck out six in a complete-game win and had two hits and two RBIs for Chestatee on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Tanner Gable added a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs for the War Eagles, and Eric George and Mikey Petraroi each collected two hits. Jordan London stole three bases for Chestatee, and Drew Hopkins stole two.

Soccer

BUFORD GIRLS 10, FANNIN COUNTY 0: Brie Smith scored three goals for the Lady Wolves as they finished the season undefeated (16-0, 7-0 Region 7-AAA) on Wednesday in Blue Ridge.

Lina Perez and Ceely Coker each tallied two goals for Buford, Tara Dambach had a goal and two assists, and Ambria Shutts recorded a goal and an assist. Melissa Sullivan also scored a goal, Ann Schmidt notched a pair of assists, and Caitlyn Dawkins and Brooke Horist each added one assist.

Lane Crawford recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Wolves.

Buford plays host to their to-be-determined opponent next Thursday in Buford.

Tennis

JEFFERSON GIRLS 5, TEMPLE 0 (Tuesday): Abi Muesse at No. 2 singles and Kadi Perry/Rheagan Wessels at No. 2 doubles earned 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Lady Dragons in a first-round sweep on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Tristan McGarity and Cailyn Diianni also won in singles for Jefferson, and Charley Beatty/Olivia Yates won at No. 2 doubles.

The Lady Dragons play host to Lovett at 4 p.m. today in Jefferson.

JEFFERSON BOYS 5, BOWDON 0 (Tuesday): A 6-0, 6-0 win from Wil Roberts and Nathaniel Trawick at No. 1 doubles propelled the Dragons to a first-round win on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jordan Tyler, Jackson Howard and Justin Harrison all picked up singles wins for Jefferson, and Kody McDonald/Ian Johnson earned a forfeit win at No. 2 doubles.

The Dragons face the winner of the Calhoun/Greater Atlanta Christian match at a date and time to be determined.
