High school scoreboard: April 19

Brittany Martin scored a pair of goals for Johnson in a 4-1 win against Stephens County on Friday in Oakwood.

Chandler Steele recorded assists on both of Martin’s goals, and Stephanie Barron scored a goal and notched an assist for the Lady Knights (8-7, 6-2). Lydia Moon had one goal, and Karolina Guzman tallied an assist.

Johnson plays host to Oglethorpe County on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Track

JEFFERSON TEAMS WIN REGION TITLES: Jefferson’s boys and girls track teams came away with Region 8-AA championships on Thursday in Jefferson.

The girls finished with a score of 170.5, well ahead of second-place Washington-Wilkes with a 115. The boys scored 156 points to take first ahead of Greene County with 123.

For the boys, Jefferson’s Tradd Porter won the 800 meter, Alex Parrish won the 1600, and Conner Nations took first in the shot put. Skylar Toney of Riverside Military won the pole vault. Kendrick Presley of Oglethorpe County took first place in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, and Xavier Eberhart won the long jump and the triple jump.

In the girls competition, Camille Porter, Jaclyn Coleman, Savannah Dale and Madison Dills of Jefferson won the 1600 relay, Porter won the 800, Reese Bowles took first in the 3200, and Abby Carson finished in first place in the pole vault.

Latoria Royal of Oglethorpe County won the long jump.

Baseball

RIVERSIDE SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER: The Eagles defeated Social Circle 5-4 and 6-2 in a pair of games on Thursday in Gainesville.

Matt Jones earned the win for Riverside Military in Game 1, and Collin Pettel picked up the victory in Game 2.

Jones went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the games, and Aaron Coleman was 4 for 5 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs.
