POSTED: October 31, 2007 5:07 a.m.
CLEVELAND - White County’s playoff hopes stayed alive with a 28-7 win against East Hall Friday night in Cleveland. The Warriors (5-3, 2-1 Region 7A-AAA) are in a three-way tie for the second playoff spot in the subregion with Chestatee and Lumpkin County.

White County owns the tie-breaker advantage over Chestatee with a 35-21 win last week. The Warriors conclude the regular season on Nov. 9 at Lumpkin County.

On Friday, White County took control of the Vikings (0-8, 0-3) with a 86-yard fumble return for a touchdown by freshman linebacker Adam Hooper. The Warriors defense led their effort allowing only 58 yards on the ground (2.1 yards per carry) and 198 yards of total offense.

"I thought our defense played excellent tonight," White County coach Gregg Segraves said. "I think we’ve played well all season."

White County went up 14-0 in the second quarter when senior running back Eli McCallister scored from the 12. He was the Warriors’ leading rusher with six carries for 98 yards.

East Hall scored in the second quarter with a 77 yard hook-and-ladder play. That trick play was the only touchdown that the White County defense gave up the entire game.

White County senior running back Jesse Brown ran for a touchdown from the 5-yard line in the third quarter. Ashley Lowery was on the receiving end of a 39-yard touchdown pass from White County quarterback Tyler Norman.

East Hall’s score came on a pass from Austin Morgan to Joshten Hopkins for 77 yards.

White County plays host to Gilmer; East Hall plays host to North Hall next Friday.
