Sims Griffith hit a grand slam to lead Gainesville to a 13-0 win over Class AAAAAA Mountain View on Thursday in Lawrenceville.

Griffith was 1 for 4 with four RBIs in the game, and Skyler Weber recorded a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs for the Red Elephants (5-0).

Michael Gettys (3-0) tallied three hits and two RBIs at the plate and recorded 10 strikeouts and just one walk over five innings on the mound.

Gainesville visits Habersham Central at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Airy.

LAKEVIEW 16, RIVERSIDE 0: Dallas Deavers hit a two-run home run to propel Lakeview on Thursday in Gainesville.

Dakota Chalmers went 2 for 2 with three RBIs, a single and a double for the Lions. Drake Hollander had a 2-for-2 night with a single, a double and four runs scored, and Avery Smith was 2 for 3 with a trio of RBIs.

Smith picked up the win from the mound for Lakeview (2-1).

The Lions play host to St. Francis at 4 p.m. today in Gainesville.

JACKSON COUNTY 12, CEDAR SHOALS 3: Andrew Fogarty struck out nine batters while giving up three runs on four hits over six innings for Jackson County on Thursday in Athens.

Ben Brissey paced the Panthers (5-3) offense, going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Chandler Malecki was 2 for 5 with a pair of RBIs. Cal Tolbert went 2 for 4 on the night with three RBIs.

Jackson County visits Lumpkin County at 5:55 tonight in Dahlonega.

LUMPKIN COUNTY 13, WHITE COUNTY 10: Daniel McCrary led the Indians with five RBIs and two runs scored on a 2-for-3 night at the plate and struck out nine over four innings on the mound on Thursday in Cleveland.

John Webber was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored for Lumpkin County (4-4), and Weston Dowdy was 3 for 4 with three runs scored.

For White County, Brett Westmoreland had five RBIs with a grand slam on a 2-for-3 night, and Will Flowers assisted the White County (3-1) offense with a home run and three RBIs.

Matthew Ash went 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored.

The Warriors visit Banks County in their first region game of the season at 5:55 p.m. Monday in Homer, and Lumpkin County plays host to Jackson County at 5:55 tonight in Dahlonega.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 10, CLARKE CENTRAL 3: Brandon Moore paced the Raiders with four RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base in a 2-for-3 night on Thursday in Mount Airy.

Dylan Dalton was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored for Habersham Central (4-2), and Michael Long went 2 for 3 for the Raiders with three runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases.

Ryan Smith got the win for Habersham Central with seven strikeouts over six innings.

The Raiders play host to Gainesville on Saturday in Mount Airy.

Tennis

GAINESVILLE BOYS 5, HERITAGE 0: Reagan Williams defeated Dylan Dedrick 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles on Thursday in Gainesville.

Jackson Goble and Graham McKinnon also grabbed singles wins for the Red Elephants (2-0 Region 8-AAAAA).

Alec Zais and Nick Dillard won at No. 1 doubles, and Trevor Munn and Charles Calkins defeated their opponents at No. 2 doubles.

Gainesville visits Salem on Wednesday in Conyers.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 5, HERITAGE 0: Brinkley Frankum started the Lady Red Elephants out on a high note with a 6-0, 6-0 win against her competitor on Thursday in Gainesville.

Georgia Summer won at No. 2 singles, and Katherine Wright got the win at No. 3 singles.

Morgan Mercer and Lauren Carter got the win at No. 1 doubles for Gainesville, and Martha McKinnon and Katherine Anderson finished with a victory at No. 2 doubles.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 5, CLARKE CENTRAL 0: Nicole Morris got a 6-0, 6-0 win to start off the Lady Falcons’ sweep on Thursday in Flowery Branch.

Durden Smith and Madison Smith each won their singles matches as well, and the doubles teams of Dani Taylor and Kaia Clark and Megan Ribovich and Taylor Tipton both beat their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

Flowery Branch visits Apalachee on Tuesday in Winder.

BUFORD BOYS 5, EAST HALL 0: Colby West, Alex Turner and Nick Becker all won in the singles division on Thursday in Gainesville.

Rob Hunter and Skyler Wilson won for Buford at No. 1 doubles, and David Petroni and Jabin Stepp got the win at No. 2 doubles.

Buford plays host to West Hall on Tuesday in Buford, while East Hall visits White County on Tuesday in Cleveland.

JOHNSON BOYS 3, LUMPKIN COUNTY 2: The doubles teams of James Butcher and Bradley Barker and Man Chung and Josh Butler carried the Knights, beating both of their opponents on Thursday in Dahlonega.

Caleb Herrin won the lone singles match for Johnson (1-4, 1-2 Region 8-AAAA).

The Knights visit Chestatee on Tuesday in Gainesville.

JOHNSON GIRLS 3, LUMPKIN COUNTY 2: Karina Rivera and Riley McNeil won singles matches for Johnson (1-4, 1-2 Region 8-AAAA) on Thursday in Dahlonega.

Marissa Rodriguez and Kaylyn Dumanowsky won at No. 2 doubles to get the win for the Lady Knights.

Johnson plays Chestatee at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Hog Mountain Athletic Complex in Flowery Branch.

WEST HALL BOYS 5, FANNIN COUNTY 0: Tatum Scroggs won the No. 2 doubles match 6-0, 6-0 for West Hall on Thursday in Oakwood.

Max Wilson won at No. 1 singles, and Austin Dyer got the win at No. 3 singles.

Grayson Kyle and Min Kim defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Kip O’Kelley and Connor Kirkland won by default at No. 2 doubles.

West Hall (5-3, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) visits Banks County at 4 p.m. today in Homer.

STEPHENS COUNTY BOYS 3, CHESTATEE 2: The War Eagles dominated at doubles with Blaine Brown and Juan Carrion winning the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-0 on Thursday in Gainesville.

Chestatee’s Reed Johnson and Austin Passmore won the No. 2 doubles match 6-0, 6-1.

The War Eagles face Johnson on Tuesday.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 3, STEPHENS COUNTY 2: The Lady War Eagles swept the doubles matches as Haley King and Grace Brown narrowly defeated their opponents at the No. 1 spot on Thursday in Gainesville.

Chestatee’s Carolina Gijon and Lauren McNitt won in the No. 2 doubles match, and Fernanda Arcaraz won at No. 2 singles to secure the win for Chestatee.

RIVERSIDE BOYS 5, JEFFERSON 0: Merritt Wilburn won 6-0, 6-0 for the Eagles on Thursday in Jefferson.

Sipho Khoza won at No. 2 singles, and Zhongkun Jin grabbed a No. 3 singles win for Riverside (3-0).

Eric Chow and Jake Weiner won at No. 1 doubles, and Nicolas Pitchon and Joshua Haughton got the victory at No. 2 doubles.

The Eagles play host to Social Circle at 4 p.m. March 14 in Gainesville.

Soccer

LAKEVIEW BOYS 3, WHITE COUNTY 2: Rick Valentine scored a pair of goals for the Lions on Thursday in Gainesville.

Tyler Kimball had a goal and an assist for Lakeview (3-2), and Nathan Zottnick and Christian Reinhardt each added assists.

The Lions visit Towns County at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Hiawassee.

EAST HALL BOYS 2, MOUNTAIN VIEW 0 (Wednesday): Adolfo Adame scored late in the first half on an assist from Leo Toledo for East Hall’s first goal of the game on Wednesday in Lawrenceville.

Edgar Cerrano scored the second goal for the Vikings (4-1, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) on a free kick late in the second half.

East Hall visits Monroe Area at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Monroe.

Golf

GAINESVILLE GIRLS WIN TRI-MATCH: Meg Callahan carded a 42 to lead the Lady Red Elephants to a season-opening win over White County and North Hall on Thursday at Mossy Creek Golf Course in Cleveland.

Morgan Reece shot a 43, and Madeline Harr was third for Gainesville with a 47.

White County was led by Brittan Slaton with a 48, Chandler Kimsey with a 49 and Jodi Sample with a 54. For North Hall, Jessie Edge shot a 53, Haley Twiggs carded a 54 and Ansley Carter shot a 59.

The three teams will meet again at the White County Spring Swing tournament on Saturday in Cleveland.

WEST HALL GIRLS 111, LANIER 165: Led by Malorie Smith, Olivia Davis and Morgan Rivett, the Lady Spartans surged to another win on Thursday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville.

West Hall returns to action in the Hall County Championship tournament on Monday and Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Flowery Branch.
