Mr. and Mrs. Edsel Wakefield Fickey of Gainesville announce the engagement of their daughter Miss Karon Ashleigh Fickey to Mr. Ethan Lee Burke, son of Mrs. Lena Louise Parham of Cornelia and the late Mr. Roy Lee Burke.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. Edsel Walter Fickey of Titusville, Fla., and the late Mrs. Loretta Young Fickey, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Terrell Finch.

She is a 2001 graduate of North Hall High School in Gainesville. She graduated in 2006 and 2008 from North Georgia College & State University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree. She received a specialist in education degree at Piedmont College in 2010. She is employed as a teacher with the Habersham County Board of Education in Clarkesville.

The groom-elect is the grandson of late Mr. Travis Wade and Mrs. Marie Davis, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Newton Burke.

He is a 2003 graduate of Habersham Central High School in Mount Airy. He graduated in 2011 from Piedmont College with a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education. He is currently pursuing a master’s and specialist degrees from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. He is employed as a teacher with the Habersham County Board of Education in Clarkesville.

The couple plan to wed in June 2013, at The Barn at White Oaks in Dahlonega.
