North Georgia softball falls to No. 8

The University of North Georgia softball team slipped four spots to No. 8 in the most recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25 Poll Released Wednesday morning.

The Saints (18-5) went 2-2 this past weekend with wins over Brevard College and Queens University of Charlotte (N.C.). North Georgia defeated Brevard 9-8 on Friday after dropping the opening game of the Mid-South Classic 3-2 to Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Saints then defeated Queens 11-2 in five innings on Sunday, before closing out their final regular-season tournament of the season with a 4-2 loss to Wingate University.

Valdosta State University (16-3) held onto the top spot in the national poll for the third straight week after going 3-1 this past weekend. The top three in the poll did not change with Southeastern Oklahoma State (19-4) remaining second and West Texas A&M (14-1) still third. Indianapolis (14-2) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (14-4) rounded out the top-five.

The Saints visit Augusta State University (5-13) for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday in Augusta.
