Sunday fires remain under investigation

POSTED: March 5, 2013 12:59 a.m.

A couple of fires on Sunday have Hall County and Gainesville fire officials pondering just how they started.

A Hall investigator returned Monday to the 4300 block of Spain Hill Road off Browns Bridge Road, where firefighters had battled a house fire that had spread to neighboring fields and woods.

The fire caused so much damage, “we may not figure out” the cause, Fire Chief David Kimbrell said.

Gainesville firefighters battled a blaze at a 3,000-square-foot vacant commercial building in the 300 block of Downey Boulevard, across from Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s North Tower. No one was injured.

“The cause was determined to be accidental from vagrants or juvenile activity,” Fire Chief Jerome Yarbrough said.
