High school scoreboard: March 2

The Jackson County High baseball team split two games on Saturday in Commerce. In Game 1, Chase Dunlap and Jacob Banks each drove in a run in a 3-2 loss to Commerce. In Game 2, Jackson County rebounded with a 7-6 win against Oglethorpe County. Nick Corso drove in the winning run for the Panthers (3-3) with a double.

Cal Tolbert finished 2 for 3 with an RBI for Jackson County, and Banks added a double. Brett Bowen was 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL 7, CEDAR SHOALS 3 (Friday): Brandt Rineheart had a solo home run and a single for the Raiders on Friday. Sloan Austin added a pair of hits for Habersham Central, while Nathan Harvey had a hit and two walks. Ryan Smith earned the win, throwing 5 2/3 innings and allowed only two hits and no earned runs.

JEFFERSON 10, ELBERT COUNTY 1 (Friday): Andy Nicholas had a two-run double and Alex Gaba drove in two runs with a single for the Dragons on Friday in Elberton. Drew Carson had a pair of singles for Jefferson, while Trent Sorrells drove in another run with a single.

Micah Carpenter reached base in three plate appearance for the Dragons, including an RBI triple in the fifth inning.

Soccer
WEST HALL BOYS 3, CHESTATEE 0: Alejandro Zamora and Pedro Perez scored goals for the Spartans to claim the Northeast Georgia Mountain Cup title on Saturday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 3, WHITE COUNTY 1: Rick Valentine, Thomas Paris and Chance Caderhead each scored a goal on Saturday at Allen Creek in Gainesville. Calderhead finished with two assists for the Lions (2-2). Dalton Snyder recorded the win in goal for Lakeview Academy.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 3, WINDER-BARROW 1 (Friday): Nick Biasi scored a pair of goals for the Falcons (2-4-1, 1-0 Region 8-AAAAA) on Friday in Winder. Chris Araya added a goal for Flowery Branch, which hosts Duluth on Tuesday.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 3, CENTRAL GWINNETT 0 (Friday): Mary Catherine Dempsey, Anna Youmans and Margaret Carpenter each scored for the Lady Red Elephants (4-1-1) on Friday at City Park Stadium.

Ashlie Gonzalez had five saves at goal keeper for Gainesville, which visits Clarke Central on Tuesday in Athens.

ATHENS ACADEMY BOYS 3, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 2 OT (Friday): Tyler Kimball scored both goals for the Lions on Friday in Watkinsville.

Tennis
The Johnson High girls won all five matches 6-0, 6-0 against East Hall on Thursday. Earning wins at singles for Johnson were Ashley Hogan, Karina Rivera and Riley McNeil.
Anslie Bass/Zdena Janderova and Marissa Rodriguez/Kaylyn Dumanowsky swept doubles play for the Lady Knights.
