Lanier Aquatics finishes second at state championships

Lanier Aquatics placed second in the small team division at the Georgia Swimming State Championships this past weekend at Georgia Tech.

Brian Monaghan posted two second-place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke. He also finsihed fourth in the 100 individual medley, fifth in the 50 butterfly, ninth in the 200 individual medley and 10th in the 100 freestyle.

Sidney Cochran placed sixth in the 200 backstroke, eighth in the 200 butterfly, ninth in the 200 freestyle and 10th in the 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke and the 400 individual medley.

Tanner Doan placed seventh in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle, eighth in the 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 50 backstroke and 12th in the 400 individual medley.

Lindsey Grater placed seventh in the 1,000 freestyle and 11th in the 500 freestyle.

Competing in relays was the 12-and-under girls team of Haley Bartoletta, Jordan Battle, Anna Nabors and McKenzie Klinck. The 14-and-under boys team was represented by Doan, Brian Monaghan, Jack Saxton and C.J.Guzman. The 14-and-under girls team was Cochran, Jordan Battle, Haley Bartoletta and Lindsey Grater. The 10-and-under girls team was Alyssa Bartoletta, Karly Bartoletta, Janie Davis and Mary Michael Callahan.
