Gainesville opened the season with a 10-0 win against Shiloh in five innings on Thursday at Ivey-Watson Field in Gainesville.
Michael Gettys pitched all five innings for the Red Elephants (1-0), allowing just one hit and striking out 10. He also added an RBI and recorded three stolen bases.
Offensively, Gainesville was led by Skyler Weber with a solo home run, and Brandon Sewell with a three-run homer for the Red Elephants.
Sims Griffith added a pair of RBIs for Gainesville, which faces Archer at 5:55 p.m. Monday in Lawrenceville.

WEST HALL GIRLS 3, LAKEVIEW 0: Katie Kirkland notched a pair of goals and an assist for West Hall in the Northeast Georgia Mountain Cup on Thursday at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.
Katie Forrester also tallied a goal and an assist, and Alyssa Hall added an assist for the Lady Spartans.
West Hall (1-1) faces Chestatee in the consolation final of the tournament at 6 p.m. tonight in Gainesville.
CHESTATEE GIRLS 2, FANNIN COUNTY 1: The Lady War Eagles rallied from a deficit to secure the win in the Northeast Georgia Mountain Cup on Thursday at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex in Gainesville.
Taylor Buffington found Hope Baxter to score the game-tying goal, and Madison Dunn later scored to win the game.
Chestatee (3-1-0) will face West Hall in the consolation final of the tournament at 6 p.m. tonight in Gainesville.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 4, LUMPKIN COUNTY 1: The Lady Trojans’ only loss came at No. 1 singles on Thursday in Gainesville.
North Hall’s Kelsey McCray beat Anna-Claire Norton at No. 2 singles, and Tricia Dial defeated Claudia Head at No. 3 singles. Hannah Gibson and Kaitlyn Smith won at No. 1 doubles, and McKay Higginbotham and Courtney Barnes won and No. 2 doubles.
The Lady Trojans visit North Forsyth on Tuesday in Coal Mountain.
NORTH HALL BOYS 4, LUMPKIN COUNTY 1: The North Hall doubles teams swept Lumpkin County as Lucas Martin and Thomas Fisher grabbed a win at No. 1 doubles and Dawson Smith and Dalton Patterson won at No. 2 doubles.
North Hall’s Jackson Davis defeated Evan Bafile of Lumpkin County at No. 1 singles, and Matthew Chewning won against Kyle Hoard at No. 3 singles.
Lumpkin County’s lone win came as Jonathan Gilreath beat Paxton Gillespie at No. 2 singles.
The Trojans (2-0) face North Forsyth on Tuesday in Coal Mountain.
WEST HALL BOYS 4, NORTH FORSYTH 1: West Hall picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles by Tatum Scroggs and Max Wilson, respectively, on Thursday in Oakwood.
Grayson Kyle and Kip O’Kelley picked up the win and No. 1 doubles, and Austin Dyer and Min Kim defeated their opponent at No. 2 doubles.
West Hall (2-3) visits North Oconee on Tuesday in Bogart.
HABERSHAM CENTRAL BOYS 4, EAST HALL 1: East Hall’s Dane Allen beat Habersham Central’s Austin Miller 8-0 at the No. 1 singles slot on Thursday.
The Raiders got wins from Payton Cain, who beat Zach Groover at No. 2 singles, Chris Holbrook, who defeated Jonathan Morales at No. 3 singles, and both doubles teams.
RIVERSIDE 5, DACULA 0 (Wednesday): Merritt Wilburn, Sipho Khoza and Zhongkun Kim all won for the Eagles in the singles slots in a sweep of Dacula on Wednesday in Dacula.
The Eagles face Morrow at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Morrow.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 49, COLONIAL HILLS 21: Julianne Sutton paced the Lady Chargers with 18 points in the final four of the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama Class 1-A state basketball tournament on Thursday in Columbus. Nicole Ball and Sarah Rhodes each tallied 10 points on the night.
With the win, the Lady Chargers advance to the ICSGA 1-A state championship game against Cumberland Christian Academy at 1 p.m. Saturday in Columbus.
