Local STAR students honored

GAINESVILLE CITY CO-WINNER
WILLIAM MORRIS

Morris was honored by the Gainesville Kiwanis Club as one of the co-winners of the Gainesville City School System STAR Student award. He selected his Academic Team Coach and English teacher, Pamela Michelsen to be his STAR teacher.

Morris intends to major in history at Harvard University in the fall. He’s said he’s nervous about the future but eager to take advantage of the opportunities life gives him.

GAINESVILLE CITY CO-WINNER
AUSTIN MONTGOMERY

Austin Montgomery, a senior at Lakeview Academy, was honored as the co-winner of the Gainesville City School System STAR Student Tuesday afternoon. Mongomery named his football coach and history teacher, Matthew Gruhn as his STAR Teacher.

After graduation, Montgomery will spend two years as a missionary for the Church of Latter Day Saints.

HALL COUNTY WINNER
SAVANNAH SCHNEIDER

Savannah Schneider, a senior at West Hall High School, was honored as the Hall County STAR student Tuesday afternoon. She chose her IB history teacher, Andrew McCain as her STAR Teacher.

Schneider is currently waiting to see which colleges she has the options to attend in the fall. She intends to become a pharmacist after she completes her education.
