The Dawson County Lady Tigers were able to pull away from Fannin County in the second quarter by outscoring them 22–8 to take a lead that would carry them to a 56-39 win and the Region 7-AAA championship game on Friday at North Hall High in Gainesville.
Carly Gilreath led the Lady Tigers (23-4) with 26 points, and Sheyenne Seabolt notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Dawson County plays Buford in the region championship game at 7 p.m. tonight at North Hall in Gainesville.
Region 8-AA Tournament
JEFFERSON BOYS 60, RABUN COUNTY 56: The Jefferson boys basketball team advanced to the Region 8-AA championship game with a win over Rabun County on Friday at Greene County High in Greensboro.
Jeshua Kidd led the Dragons (18-9) with 14 points, Tay Taylor tallied 11 points, and Willie Taylor scored 10.
Jefferson faces Greene County in the championship game at 8:30 tonight in Greensboro.
Region 8-AAAAA Tournament
GAINESVILLE BOYS 62, APALACHEE 54: Shaquan Cantrell recorded 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Red Elephants to the Region 8-AAAAA title game in a win on Friday at Apalachee High in Winder.
Luke Moore added 13 points for Gainesville, and Chase England scored 10.
The Red Elephants face Salem in the region championship at 8:30 tonight in Winder.
SALEM GIRLS 57, FLOWERY BRANCH 47: Jacy Ramey led the Lady Falcons with 17 points in a loss to Salem in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament semifinals on Friday at Apalachee High in Winder.
Breanna Locke added 12 points for Flowery Branch (23-4), which faces Cedar Shoals in the third-place game at 4 p.m. today in Winder.
