Gainesville's Cantrell, Flowery Branch's Sykes named Region 8-AAAAA Players of the Year

Flowery Branch’s Tavia Sykes is the Region 8-AAAAA All-Region Girls Player of the Year and Gainesville’s Shaquan Cantrell is the Boys Player of the Year, the region announced Thursday.

Lady Falcons’ coach Hazel Hall was also honored as the Girls Coach of the Year, and Red Elephants coach Todd Cottrell is the Boys Coach of the Year.

Flowery Branch was also represented by Jacy Ramey and Marissa Ivey on the Girls All-Region team, and Jamaad Stephens was named to the Boys All-Region team.
