Gainesville’s Shaquan Cantrell finished with 37 points and eight rebounds in a 72-66 win against Cedar Shoals on Saturday in Gainesville. Red Elephants junior Deshaun Watson had 18 points.

For Cedar Shoals, Dontai Robinson scored 28 points.

Gainesville opens the Region 8-AAAAA tournament on Wednesday at Apalachee High in Winder.

BUFORD GIRLS 69, FANNIN COUNTY 30: Camille Anderson finished with 16 points and Kristina Nelson added 15 for the Lady Wolves (19-4, 14-0 Region 7-AAA) on Saturday in Buford. Mackenzie Darrah finished with 12 points for Buford, which opens the Region 7-AAA tournament Wednesday in Buford.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 51, SOCIAL CIRCLE 44: Jake Weiner hit seven 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points on Saturday. Adrian Humphrey had eight assists for the Eagles.

Riverside opens the Region 8-AA tournament on Tuesday with an opponent and location still to be determined.

LUMPKIN COUNTY BOYS 60, WALNUT GROVE 47: Johnny Gilreath led the Indians with 12 points and Daniel McCrary added nine in the play-in game of the Region 8-AAAA tournament on Saturday in Walnut Grove. With the win, Lumpkin County visits top-seed Johnson at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Oakwood.

EAST HALL BOYS 83, BANKS COUNTY 73 (Friday): Brian Edwards tallied 25 points for the Vikings on Friday in Homer.
Jacquen Hopkins added 15 points for East Hall, which begins play in the Region 7-AAA Tournament on Tuesday.
