Local golf: Wednesday Dogfight group plays at Chicopee Woods

Luke James, Tommy Calhoun, Bob Arendt and Levan Webster won the Chicopee Woods Wednesday Dogfight match last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville.

The teams of Jerry Horton, Mike Tilson, Tom Frier and Luke James and Mark Thornton, Len Kaper, Keith Fitzgerald and Joe Roberts both tied for second place. Individually, Horton and Webster tied for the top spot and Kaper was third.

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Bob Arendt won the event on Monday, followed by Dwight Miller in second place and Henry Komoto in third. On Wednesday, Terrence Dale finished in first place, Jim Julian was second, and Dave Jetter and Jerry Shell tied for third.

Julian came in first in Friday’s match, Dewey Alverson took second place, and Steve Knowles and Komoto tied for third.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a three-best ball, aggregated-net strokes game last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Joe Kolesar, Harry Barnett, Butch Teston and Joe Cronmiller finished in first place, and Paul Payne, Clay Bartlett and Bill Holleman came in second. Bill Sutton, Karl Goellner, Denny Momper and Roger Miller were third.

Closest to the pin winners were Gene Weschler (No. 3), Cronmiller (No. 5), Jack Prather (No. 12) and Wayne Nelson (No. 17).

LUNA’S TUESDAY: Nelson Wright, Stan Davidson Jr, Ken Chahoy and Johnny Nix finished in first place for the Luna’s Tuesday golf group in a match at Chattahoochee Golf Course last week. Second place went to the team of Blake Nix, Cleve Brown, Bud Black and Doug Van. Gene Weschler, Don Rogers, Tommy Lowery and Randy Gordy came in third. Closest to the pin winners were Brown (No. 3 and No. 5), Weschler (No. 12), and Johnny Nix (No. 17).
