National Business Honor Society opens chapter at Brenau University

The Delta Mu Delta business honor society will open a chapter at Brenau University in Gainesville.

The 100-year-old, Brookfield, Ill.-based society operates on 240 campuses worldwide. It recognizes academic excellence in baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate degree business administration programs.

Delta Mu Delta selects students in the top 20 percent of their classes for lifetime membership. There are more than 160,000 members in 175 countries.

“Becoming a chapter in Delta Mu Delta is a very significant achievement,” said Bill Lightfoot, dean of the College of Business & Mass Communication at Brenau. “It is further testimony to our students, alumni and the business community that our programs produce high-quality graduates.”

Brenau qualified to apply for a DMD chapter when it won Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs accreditation in 2012. Only three other Georgia institutions have Delta Mu Delta chapters.

In addition to providing public recognition to business students who have distinguished themselves in their schools of business, Delta Mu Delta also annually awards scholarships and recognitions to members based on academic record and performance.

Currently Brenau enrolls 503 undergraduates in programs with business administration and business-related majors.
