Local college scoreboard: Feb. 7

The University of North Georgia women’s basketball team jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hang on and fell 71-64 to Young Harris College on Thursday in Young Harris.

Keta Robinette led four Mountain Lions (12-8, 6-7 Peach Belt Conference) in double figures with 18 points and played all 40 minutes. Lauren Smith and Breanna Gleeson also played all 40 minutes and scored 13 and 11 points  respectively for Young Harris.

North Georgia’s Mimi Hill led all players with 21 points and eight rebounds, off a 7-11 shooting performance in 31 minutes of work. Gainesville grad Jaymee Carnes also finished in double figures for the Saints (8-12, 6-7 PBC) with 18 points to go along with six rebounds.

The Saints return home to face Columbus State University on Saturday in Dahlonega.

NORTH GEORGIA MEN 85, YOUNG HARRIS 77: The University of North Georgia men’s basketball team broke a three-game skid with a victory over Young Harris College on Thursday in Young Harris.

Scott Windom led the Saints (12-8, 7-6 PBC) with 23 points. He also went 2-2 from the free throw line and corralled in six rebounds.

Ishmael Hollis added 13 points for North Georgia and JC Ward had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Frank Adams ended the night with a double-double off 28 points and 11 rebounds for Young Harris (14-6, 9-4 PBC).

Malcolm Jackson had 18 points for the Mountain Lions, and Vince Martin finished with 13 points.

The Saints return home to face Columbus State University on Saturday in Dahlonega.
